Jean B. Davis

Wisconsin United States
(b. 1931 - d. 2002)

Jean B. Davis was 71 when she passed away, after succumbing to breast cancer. She is survived by her son and three daughters. Jean graduated with honors from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in education (1952) and a master's degree (1953). From 1956 to 1974, she devoted her time to her children, passing on to them her love of learning. She loved to travel, was a tireless participant in her community, and founded La Leche League in Honolulu, Hawaii. LLL Leader Dianne Stevens recalls: "As a young, newly accredited Leader, I knew Jean, an experienced Leader. She was a beautiful person and a role model for me when I was learning to be a mother. She was active in the Madison, Wisconsin LLL Chapter for about one year. For the rest of my life, I have carried with me so much of what I learned from her. I was fortunate to cross paths with her again in the last 1990s when we were active in an local organization that supported low income families."
