Barbara Lawson Boston

Virginia United States
(b. 1947 - d. 2014)

Barbara L. Boston, age 66, of Alexandria, Virginia USA, died April 28, 2014 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born on July 25, 1947 in Denver, Colorado USA, and grew up on the West side of Los Angeles, California USA. She was survived by her husband, and her son. Barbara had worked as a Certified Lactation Consultant and Nurse Practitioner at a major university medical center in the Washington, D.C. area.

Colorado Leader Cathy Janoka remembers:

"Barbara Boston was an LLL Leader in Hawaii with my friend and Leader, Anne Grider, back in the late 1970s. In 1997, Barbara moved to Colorado. At that time, her husband had recently retired from the Air Force and her son was attending the Air Force Academy. She wanted to live in Colorado until he graduated. During those years in Colorado, when I was working as a registered nurse at a local hospital, I recall that I hired Barbara who was instrumental in working with me to set up the lactation department. In 2000, she and her husband moved to Alexandria, Virginia."

"When I worked with Barbara, she was such a giving person with her knowledge, her time, and using her talents to the fullest. The patients loved her. I remember observing her many times and modeling her behavior. We had LLL and the nursing profession as our common ground. I recognized that much of what she did as a nurse in the hospital was based on her experienced as a Leader. It was evident and she empowered me as a new nurse. I know she valued her time in LLL, and, in turn, encouraged me to continue my professional life, with my LLL background as a foundation."
