Margot Pordes

New London - Margot Pordes, 72, of New London, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at New London Rehabilitation and Care Center in Waterford.

Born Dec. 22, 1943, to Fritz Pordes and Jean (Hotchkiss) Pordes in Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Pordes worked as an accountant for several area businesses. A graduate of New London High School, Class of 1962, she was a member of the Olde New London Neighborhood Association, was a La Leche League Leader.

Mrs. Pordes lived in New York City for much of her life where she worked at the Electric Circus and the Soho Weekly News. Known as a feminist, great mom, and wonderful friend to all, Mrs. Pordes was a passionate advocate for nursing mothers and natural birth. She authored a chapter in The Pregnancy After 30 Workbook by Gail Sforza Brewer and was an active member of the P.S. 3 PTA.

Mrs. Pordes is survived by a son, Owen T. Parsons of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Heather Parsons of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two brothers, Tony Pordes of Alexandria, Va. and Kurt Pordes of Montreal, Canada. She has three grandchildren, Wolfgang Potts, Scarlet Potts and Crispin Murphy; as well as many very beloved cousins and aunt Margo.
