Crete Kochanek

Crete M. Kochanek was born on October 2, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA to the late Emmanuel and Florence (Vipoulu) Liadrakis and died in Westfield, Connecticut USA, on January 19, 2012 at the age of 69.

She was a former La Leche League (LLL) Leader. LLL Leader Darlene Utzinger recalls that Crete was her best friend and she led LLL meetings with Crete in Westfield. Crete was also the Area Conference Supervisor for LLL Connecticut.

Crete enjoyed quilting, counter cross-stitch, traveling, cooking, gardening and flower arranging. Crete leaves her husband of 43 years Adam Stanley Kochanek, her daughters Dina Kochanek and her wife Meghan Savitski of Springfield, Evangeline Kochanek of Palo Alto, CA and Victoria Ladd and her husband Damian of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also leaves her grandson River Ladd, her nieces Audrey Chester and Sonja Chester-Nelson and her nephew Barry Chester.

She has been a resident of Connecticut the past 40 years. Crete was a music teacher for East Granby, Connecticut schools. She was a former soloist for Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the First Congregational Church in Westfield. She taught voice at Westfield State College, she was a former choral director at Elm's College, former organist and choir director at Church of the Atonement in Westfield. Crete was also a former music teacher at the MacDuffie School and taught private voice lessons in the community. She was a former Soloist for Project Opera in Northampton and was a member of the Bicentennial Committee of Westfield. Crete was a member of the Connecticut Music Educators Association.
